Éducation postcoloniale au Cameroun : enjeux et perspectives

Summary

Under pressure, emotion and other vicissitudes of life, the human being often tends to analyze the consequences of the facts, without looking at the causes. This is perhaps what happens today to those who take a look, even stealthily, on the socio-economic and cultural realities of Africa. Colonization and neocolonialism are certainly pointed at in the sociological realities and behaviors of the African peoples. In this collective work, proof of the solidarity spirit of Cameroonian researchers, the authors look at different aspects of education in their country. From general considerations to particular aspects, from curriculum to curriculum, with specific objectives and profiles to the disciplines taught, education in Cameroon is dissected and, ultimately, there is a strong suspicion of the influence of internal and external factors whose sole concern is the perpetuation of colonial action. This complex situation makes it necessary to reflect on the concept Independence, or on the actual content to give to this term. Beyond this undeniable cause, the results on the everyday life of the people prove, every day, a little more frightful. This book is a draft contribution to the constant struggle for a quality education system that can awaken citizens' consciences and guarantee a better future for younger generations. It is of interest to all actors in African education systems, students, public officials, policymakers and international organizations.

Mwandishi

André-Marie MANGA was born in 1966 in Konabeng (Lekié Department), Central Cameroon Region. He holds a PhD new regime in Education Sciences (Didactic Languages and Literature), supported at the Complutense University of Madrid in Spain. Teacher-researcher, he is a lecturer and currently Head of Department of Educational Sciences at the Ecole Normale Supérieure of Bertoua in East Cameroon.
